LIVING WITH AN UNSTOPPABLE PURPOSE
THE UNSTOPPABLE LIFE
GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE
“For we are God’s [workmanship], created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
I. IF I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSE OF LIFE…
… LIFE SEEMS USELESS
“… Life is useless, all useless. You spend your life working… [but] what do you have to show for it? … The world just stays the same.” Ecclesiastes 1:2-4 (GNT)
… LIFE SEEMS TIRESOME
“… Everything leads to weariness…” Ecclesiastes 1:4-8 (GN)
… LIFE SEEMS UNFULFILLING
“… No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied; no matter how much we hear, we are not content. History merely repeats itself.” Ecclesiastes 1:8-10 (TLB)
… LIFE SEEMS INSIGNIFICANT
“No one remembers what has happened in the past, and no one in days to come will remember what happens between now and then.” Ecclesiastes 1:11 (GNT)
… LIFE SEEMS UNCONTROLLABLE
“You can’t straighten out what is crooked; you can’t count things that aren’t there!” Ecclesiastes 1:15 (GNT)
THE BENEFITS OF LIVING A PURPOSE DRIVEN-LIFE
1. PURPOSE GIVES DIRECTION
“The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame…” Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)
2. PURPOSE BRINGS CLARITY
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”Psalm 32:8 (NIV)
3. PURPOSE IGNITES PASSION
Paul: “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Acts 20:24 (NLT)
4. PURPOSE INCREASES FOCUS
Paul: “… I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting [what is behind] and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Philippians 3:13 (TLB)
5. PURPOSE BUILDS RESILIENCE
Paul: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 (NIV)
“… Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…” Hebrews 12:1–2 (NIV)
HOW TO GET STARTED
- IDENTIFY what’s been driving my life so far.
“Pay close attention to how you live…” Ephesians 5:15
- BELIEVE God has a purpose for my life.
“God [is our Maker], and in our union with Christ, He has created us for a life of good [works], which He has already prepared for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (GNT)
- RECEIVE God’s Son into my life.
“Long ago, even before He made the world, God choose us to be His very own through what Christ would do for us … His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family by sending Jesus Christ to die for us. And He did this because He wanted to!” Ephesians 1:4-5 (TLB)
